Week 1 of classes are done. Our focus was on the different types of lighting.
Our teacher wanted us to focus on these forms of lighting while we were taking our pictures. If the day wasn't so overcast yesterday and today, I may have had more variety. Below are 11 of the pictures I took on my way to meeting the goal of 40. Now let's cross those off...

I am currently taking an Intermediate/Advanced Photography class offered through the Provo Rec Center. I finished the Beginner course back in March and had a blast learning from Danielle Christiansen by participating in her weekly challenges. Completing these challenges helped me apply what I was learning in class and made me a better photographer. I saw a lot of growth and I also had a lot of fun! Now, this course's challenge has been issued! The goal is to complete as many of them as possible before the course ends in June. Because I was so proud of the progress I made in the Beginner's course, I am going to do my best to take my time and put a lot of effort into each picture. As a way to stay accountable, this lovely blog and my Instagram get to document it all.
I am going to issue a challenge of my own! Anyone that can complete the 40 Photo Challenges by June 30 will be entered into a drawing for a free 30 mini-session. Join me by tagging @richlytakenphotography on your photos so that I can see you're in it to win it! Sound good? Stay tuned for more updates! Here are my potential entries for the 2016 Utah Lake Photography Contest taken during a shoot I did for my sister-in-law's graphic design website. Please help me out by voting for which one you think has a good chance of winning. 1, 2, or 3!

Here is the Senior session I did on Saturday with the lovely Miss Desi. I had fun getting her to smile and having us chat about the photography class she is taking. Canyon Glen Park up Provo Canyon was a beautiful location with a variety of perfect little spots. I think I will be heading back up there with my little family for an afternoon of sun. Desi, congrats on your upcoming graduation and I know you will have an exciting future ahead. Location: Botany Pond - BYU Campus, Provo, UT
This was my first extended family session and I am so grateful it was with a family I love! We have best friends and family in this group and it was really enjoyable catching up and laughing. They reached out to me because I understood the dynamics of everyone in the group. Plus, it didn't hurt that I brought a little treat for all the kiddies for doing so well. Even though it was supposed to rain during our session, the weather gods smiled upon us and gave us the perfect overcast. I hope I get to do another large family like this again. I definitely learned a lot and surprised myself that I could be that on top of things. Now how about those baby blues on those babies! |
